Primate Mural was designed and created by Debra Wilson to celebrate the new primate building at the Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary (AZAS), a non-profit rescue zoo www.austinzoo.org
The images shown in the mural are of the actual primates that live at the zoo. The 3-D mural was installed directly onto the back of the building that houses the primates with an approx. 50 ft. run in length. Additionally, the artist created an 4'x8' three monkey cut-out for visitors to enjoy.

The artist spent approx. 400 hrs. working on this art installation including conceptualization, pre-painting of backdrop images, drawing free-hand the images for the cut-outs, sawing, painting, etc. Most of the work for this project was done on-site at the Austin Zoo.

Underwriting for the art installation was in large part due to the generosity of Bernie and Claudia Tejada, and who also helped lend a hand with the wooden cutouts, painting, and glittery embellishments. Thank you!
